About The Position

Pagaya Investments is looking to add a results-oriented team player to its origination team, focusing on developing relationships with senior leaders in the mortgage and real estate sectors. This individual will be responsible for cultivating relationships with large mortgage originators, lenders, and other parties in the mortgage industry, with the objective of forging win-win strategic partnerships that enable Pagaya to directly invest in whole loans. 

The Director of Mortgage Origination Partnerships will be the subject matter expert on mortgage and real estate topics within the team. This individual will have significant influence on the group’s strategy within this asset class and, consequently, must be able to speak with authority on all aspects of mortgage finance.

Pagaya Investments is a global quantitative investment management firm specializing in applying machine learning and big data analytics to alternative asset classes. The team manages over $1.2 billion in assets on behalf of institutional investors around the world.


The Director will focus on developing relationships to assist in the extension of Pagaya’s investment process to mortgage products. This individual will spearhead efforts to build scaleable “pipelines” for purchasing non-Agency whole loans. The role is responsible for all facets of the partnership development cycle:

  • Contact potential partners to establish rapport and arrange meetings
  • Research organizations, individuals, and markets to identify areas of opportunity for Pagaya’s growth
  • Understand a potential strategic partner’s internal objectives and define mutually beneficial programs
  • Position Pagaya’s unique capabilities and value-add to potential partners
  • Manage the sales process (legal agreements, business negotiations, and closing)
  • Liaise with Pagaya’s technical development team to facilitate partner integration
  • Maintain relationships with existing strategic partners
  • Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events


  • Team player, growth mindset, the ability to thrive in highly ambiguous, unstructured situations
  • Existing network of contacts in the mortgage lending universe
  • Deep expertise in residential mortgage products and the origination ecosystem
  • Experience in mortgage products, either at a non-bank lender, investment firm, or broker-dealer 
  • Significant familiarity with the economics of non-Agency mortgage products (e.g. non-QM, HELOC) and the major loan originators in these spaces
  • Personable and capable of developing relationships into strategic partnerships
  • Passion for fixed income, real estate, and residential mortgage investment products
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Four-year college degree with a preferred major in Business/Finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • Based in NY/NJ/CT - preferred


  • Background in business development, account management, sales, relationship management, investor relations or other client-facing roles (other backgrounds will be considered)
  • Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and quantitative finance
  • Knowledge of single-family rental market dynamics
